For a second time the rally was based at the Oswestry Cattle Market. With entries still hard to come by and no sign of a return by the historic championship an new idea was needed to boost competitor numbers.

It was decided to take up concept of a 'mini' rally which Pat Flynn had floated in the press earlier in the year. The route plan was to use the first stage of the main rally then hold the crews whilst the stage signage was reversed. The cars were then to run back through the stage and then to a finish ceremony back in Oswestry.

This produced a 16 mile rally of two stages. This attracted seven entries and all seven completed the route. It was not a great surprise that at the end of the day it was Pat Flynn himself, co-driven by Ella his daughter, who won. The event was well received and all the competitors thought it good fun. Whether this was enough to justify the effort was for the organisers to ponder before planning next year's rally.

In the Bulldog Rally itself there were 46 takers for the 70 stage miles on offer. Once again the entry included competitors in the Peugeot 206 Cup and Mitsubishi Evo Challenge. The winner was eighteen year old Andreas Mikkelsen who was heading for the World Rally Championship. Craig Middleton finished third out of the 33 finishers and so clinched the 2006 MSA Gravel Rally Championship title.

Once again the Bulldog Clubman's Rally had a healthy entry of 66 crews of whom 52 finished the 45 miles of stages.

This year the Ford Fiesta Sporting challenge crews joined the Clubman competitors for their last round. It was Chris Moore and the club's own Richard Edwards who emerged not only winning the Challenge but also the close fought ANCRO Clubman's Championship.
